Hi everyone,

Welcome to Day 11 of our 12 Days Of Christmas celebration!

[Giveaway Ended - Congrats to Hiedi, she won the Britex fabrics and trims!]

I think I may have mentioned this before (haha!) but…. Britex Fabrics in San Franciso is my favorite place to shop!

So, Today we are giving away … 11 things I’ve picked up from this fabulous store to one lucky winner!

Giveaway includes: 6 fabrics and 5 trims. Fabric includes 1/4 yard pieces of a floral silk, floral print rayon, 2 black knits, purple polished cotton, and a sparkly ice blue/silver special occasion fabric. Trims include a 1/2 yard each of a grey pleated grosgrain and black crochet with ribbon detail;  and 1 yard pieces of  teal lace, thin black crochet, and a irredesent purple trim.

Fabric pieces are big enough to create ooak pieces for your American Girl Doll (or Ellowyne, Bfc,Ink. etc) Most Liberty Jane items can be made form a 1/4 yard of fabric.

In the second collage image below, you can see a variety of Liberty Jane Clothing Pieces made using fabrics found at Britex Fabrics, most of the pictured items are the same fabrics/trims included in this giveaway! The recent Killara Dress was made from fabric that I got at Britex, unfortunately it was all used up, so that one is not included in this bundled giveaway.

I sew Liberty Jane patterns to produce enough garments to start an on line boutique when I retire from my full time job later this year, I sew for about 10 hours a week and cant wait until I have more time.

    • Carol /

I sew primarily as a at home business, second as a hobby sewing for my granddaughter. When in the groove, I spend about 20 hours a week sewing.

I make beenies and blankies for premies in NICU’s
all over the country, also Kids @ St. Judes Hospital and in various shelters. My kids got me a sewing machine for Xmas!!! Yipee!!! I haven’t sewn in 25 years though. I’m going to have to learn all over again!!
      HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I LOVE Liberty Jane patterns. They are so trendy and easy. My niece got an American Girl doll for Christmas last year. I searched the catalog to buy her close…all I though was..I can make it cheaper and better!! Liberty Jane, Thanks for sharing your creativity!

I sew primarily as a hobby on average, I spend 22 hours a week sewing clothes for my American girl dolls.

    • Gillian Fisher /

I sew and knit as a hobby and to make things for my granddaughters AG dolls. I probably do an average of 3 hrs per week.

  2. Linda D /

I sew primarily as a hobby, until a little later in the year when I open my shop. Since I am working full time at the moment, my time spent varies from a few hours to a few days.

  3. Margaret /

I sew and crochet primarily as a hobby, on average I spend 28 hours per week on these activities.

  4. JoAnne /

I sew and knit primarily as a hobby, though I did sell a few things when I wasn’t working. I spend a fortune each week ;-) I buy more patterns than there are hours in the day, especially as I am a teacher with precious little time for hobbies. During the school breaks I love to spend three or four hours a day making outfits or quilting. This past week I’ve managed to knit a 5″ Berenguer outfit each night – they make really cute baby cousins for the AGs.

  5. I sew as a hobby, a way to have money to feed my sewing habit and for pure pleasure. I sew most everyday, probably an average of 2-3 hours/day.

  6. Lynne Neave /

I sew, knit and crochet as a hobby pastime in my retirement. I spend two to three hours each day and enjoy seeing, and being happy with a completed project.

  7. Ginger /

I sew primarily as on average, I spend 12 hours or more/ less. Sometimes I spend more time trying to figure out the outfits design then actually sewing the outfit.

  8. June Troxel /

“I sew primarily as a way to relieve stress. The precision of it takes my mind off everything else. On average, I spend… 8 hours a week]…”

  9. i SEW AS A HOBBY, MOSTLY DOLL CLOTHES FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTERS. TIME VARIES – PROBABLY 10 TO 20 HOURS PER WEEK.

  10. Shawna Chatten /

I sew and knit purely for the joy of it!! It is my New Years Resolution to do it for my home based business that I WILL get up and running!! I seem to go in spurts, working on something for hours at a time and then I do nothing for a few days!!

  11. I sew and crochet as a hobby and for the enjoyment of others. I spend about 8-12 hours week currently.

  12. Melanie Leigh /

I sew primarily for joy, but I am trying to get my home business started and on average, I spend 36 plus hours in a week in my sewing room.

  13. I sew primarily for my small business on Etsy, but I think it also qualifies as a hobby because it’s a creative outlet for me. Because I have other hobbies, too (that I can now pursue since I’m retired), I don’t spend as much time at my machine as I’d like, but I manage to get in from 5- 10 hours a week (and sometimes much more)!

  14. I have sewn for years as a hobby. The joy of creating with fabric has been a constant in my life. Since discovering 18″ dolls, my focus has shifted to a smaller scale but I get so much more accomplished in the same amount of time! ;-) I try to spend at least two hours a day at the machine ;more if a deadline looms..and my deadlines are self-imposed ….. Regularly posting new clothes to my website for my web-based business is ‘gentle tyranny’.
Those photos of Britex have me positively salivating!!! What I wouldn’t give for an hour in their remnants bin! :)

  15. Samantha Place /

I knit and sew as a hobby. I usually do it a few hours a week, more if I have more time.

  16. Crystal Drummond /

I sew primarily as a hobby, aprx. 5 hours a week. i dream of designing doll clothes and children’s clothes but am not at that comfort level yet. some day i hope to do so.

  17. I sew as a hobby. I’d like to spend more time doing it, but I usually only manage 5-6 hours a week. Even though I’m a SAHM, I keep pretty busy running the house and running my kids around. I thought about opening an Etsy store to sell off some of the extra things I’ve made, but when I put myself on a work schedule, it took all the fun out it.

I used to live in San Jose, near San Francisco, but never made it to Britex. Many of my sewing friends did and raved about it. Thought I’d have time later to go, but bam! Husbands job moved us to the east coast.

  18. I sew as a hobby, a creative outlet and a way to make abit of money now and then. On average I spend 2 to 3 hours a day sewing, mending or just creating.

  19. Joan D /

I sew primarily as a hobby and on the average I spend a lot of hours per week. Right now I belong to a group H.I.S. (Hands In Service) and we do charity sewing. I am the leader so spend many hours coming up with ideas, patterns, fabric, etc. We have made doll clothes, doll blankets, doll bibs for a pre-school, baby blankets and now are working on chemo caps. In between I try to make a few 18″ doll clothes. So many ideas so little time. Love your site.

  20. Kathy /

I sew for a hobby and do not get to sew weekly. It is usually once a month.

  21. Marilyn /

I sew primarily as a hobby. I still like playing with dolls so it gives me an excuse. I work full time so when I get to spend a couple hours a week, it makes me happy.

  22. Jane Keene /

I sew, crochet, quilt, and felt as hobbies and do so to create gifts for my family and friends. I spend about 20 hours a week creating. Over the holidays I sewed for 5 days creating 18 inch doll clothes for 3 girls who received dolls from Santa.

  23. Sheilah /

I sew primarily as a hobby &on average, I sew every day for a minimum of 3-4 hours.
I participate in 1 craft show each year at my friend’s church.

  24. Kathi Martin /

I sew primarily as a home business. I spend an average of 40- 50 hours a week. This is something I totally love, so it’s not work to me!

  25. Sherry Boyette /

Isew as a hobby and don’t spend nearly as much time sewing as I would like.

  26. I sew and sell doll clothes as a retirement project to keep my hands and mind busy. I try to sew every day but sometimes there are other things that I need to do.

  27. Rachel K. /

I sew primarily as a hobby (for now) on average, I spend… unfortunately, not much time. I need to clean up my sewing space…

  28. Claudia /

I sew primarily as a hobby and on average, I spend around 1-2 hours sewing. I only sew when I have free time, so it’s not everyday/ week that I sew.

  29. I sew and knit for my home business. On average I spend 15 to 20 hours each week doing what I love!

  30. Lynne Thompson /

“I sew primarily as for fun but I am having amazing luck in selling everything I sew. I used to quilt but the satisfaction of sewing doll clothes is much more immediate. On average, I spend 60 hours a week sewing as, for me, it is soothing and rewarding.

  31. Virginia /

I sew mostly for fun but do sell a few things online. I probably spend 10 hours a week sewing.

  32. Martina /

I sew about half for fun and half for business, spending 1-8 hours per day, depending on the season and current projects.

  33. Sarah /

I sew mostly for my Etsy shop these days and spend 20-25 hours/week. I still love to sew for fun and family when I can too!

  34. Angela /

I sew for fun. I usually only sew when I’m in the mood to create something new. Usually that’s about 4-5 hours in one month. I’m busy with high school being senior year, so I don’t have a lot if time to sew.

  35. I sewed for myself and my children as they were growing up. That stopped when they became teenagers! I took a sewing break for many years, then started sewing some doll clothes for a gift. That has turned into an Etsy business, so now in addition to working a full time job, I sew at least 15-20 hours per week for my shop, SewLikeBetty (named for my mom who taught me to sew). LJ patterns are my favorites!

  36. Sewbig /

I sew primarily as a hobby, and I primarily sew doll clothes.

I have scheduled sewing time with a sewing group. But, when we are working on a particular project, I might sew for 8 hours straight for days. I also consider that I am sewing when I am looking for ideas and learning new techniques for sewing.

  37. Roxie /

I sew for my small business and I sew around 25 hours per week, as I still teach art, too.

  38. cecilia /

I sew primarily as a hobby, I sew a average of 6 hours per week

  39. Sophie T /

I sew and knit primarily as a hobby on average, I spend 7 hours per week (an hour a day).

  40. Jackie Friest /

“I sew or knit primarily as a hobby and for fun although I do sell some of the things I make. It supports my hobby and allows me to buy some of the ‘toys’ I wouldn’t be able to have otherwise. I have to admit sometimes I sew more than 40 hours a week making it seem like a job to others – but I am retired and love to sew.

  41. Denise /

I sew, knit, and crochet as a hobby. Although, I have been known to sell some of the things I’ve made if asked for, and if they’re willing to pay. ;) I’d say I spend only an average of 10 hours/week doing this. Not much time spent during the school year, 5th grad teacher. But in the summertime, I’ve been known to spend 2-3 hours/day crafting. :)

  42. Carrie /

I have sewn many years for my daughters now my granddaughters. I have sewn dresses for charity, blankets for Linus Charity and crocheted blankets and scarves for the same.
Now I am concentrating building a doll clothing business with the geat designs that Liberty Jane offers and hope to save enough money to sign up for the Dollabee Design site and for a embroidery machine….I sew at least twenty hours a week and work as a artist doing murals and a baker in a restaurant. I am usually up at four in the morning because my creative mind wakes me up with ideas and spirits me down to my studio. I am so thankful to live in a country where women can earn a living being creative and sell the items.

  43. “I sew [ or knit/crochet] primarily as a [insert hobby or for my home business] on average, I spend… [how much time/hours in a week]…

I spend hrs. 8 or more in my craft room.
    I love it.
I’m learning new things every day,
And one thing I have learned is how incredibly LJ patterns are to sew.
    I was pleasantly surprised.
Thank you for making it so easy.

  50. Carol K /

I began sewing primarily for stress relief (spent 30 years buried in science only to find out the stress was killing me). I am starting a small business making 18″ doll clothes and adventures with an educational twist. I will start selling my doll adventures in 2014. I spend approximately 20 to 25 hours per week on my doll business, but it ranges from 10-30+ when I get really excited about a project.

  51. Terry Knuffke-Tolbert /

  54. I sew primarily as a hobby. I am retired so on average I spend 3-5 hours a day on sewing projects for my granddaughter’s AG dolls. I like designing or matching GD’s outfits for her AG doll. I use patterns from Pixie Faire as a starting point because of their quality construction. More of my time is probably spent on pattern design than actual sewing. Everyone tells me to start an Etsy shop but for now I enjoy just making something on a whim without deadlines and structure.

Fabric stores are my down fall-you can never have to many pieces in your stash.

    • Jude Clark /

Unless you don’t have room for it. I have 8 totes of fabric that I have collected over the years with the idea that I would be creative after I retired. That takes up a lot of room. Hoping to use some of it up soon.

I tell people I am in my second childhood with my sewing for the dolls!

  110. I sew for a hobby!!! I haven’t spent much time sewing this past year, but my new year entails a lot of sewing considering my daughter now has two American girl dolls I need to clothe!! And in order for my son to not feel left out, I am making him some curtains.

I sew as a creative outlet…ok, I guess it fits int the hobby slot. I have a wonderfully large sewing room with one huge problem…Heat and cold (winter and summer) are poorly regulated and make for uncomfortable time spent there. Therefore, there is much more sewing occurring in spring and fall. The time really fluctuates. Over the many years I have sewn for my children and grandchildren, home dec (curtains and bedding) a lot of quilting, but now mostly doll clothes when I can squeak time from refurbishing and customizing the dolls themselves. Almost a year ago I discovered the wealth of designer quality patterns available and I was beside myself. Yay,

  114. I sew and knit as a hobby for the most part, but if craft fairs come along I will sell my crafts there.

  115. Lesley from NE /

I was blessed to have her teach me to sew on her Singer treadle sewing machine;which she left to me and it still sews beautifully!

  117. i sew, knit and crochet for my business. some weeks i put in 30-40 hours a week, sometimes less sometimes more you know the drill!! happy sewing, and designing

  118. Jennifer Tobler /

I sew as a way to save money on clothes for my daughters, or make them clothes that fit properly and modestly. My mother did this for me. The clothes I make for my older daughters (17 and 15) are now mostly formal dresses. My youngest is tall and skinny so i make clothes for her that the normal stores don’t make.

I usually spend about 3 hours a week sewing, but not all of that is for my girls. I enjoy sewing all sorts of things (wall quilts, bed quilts, curtains, crafts). But I also spend times crocheting, and paper crafting. I’m sure I would spend more time doing these things if work didn’t get in the way.

  119. Brenda /

I worked in a blazed and polyester pants factory for about 15 years. When the textile industry went overseas I lost interest. Whenever I am feeling stressed or need to get away I go into my studio, close the door and am whisked away into my land of fabrics, books etc. With my tv and cd player mounted up high, I come out a different mom and wife! I sew many things, right now working on a specialty quilt for my daughter, a doll quilt made from her baby clothes with jump rope rhymes. I sew as a hobby but have been lucky enough to start selling as well. Had a really great Christmas season, but am hoping to continue during the year as well. I love the photo’s of the fabric you posted and would be thrilled to be able to work with any of it.

  233. I sew primarily as a hobby and for the joy of it. When I am in the midst of a project, I sew for 6 to 8 hours a day. Sometimes I have other demands on my time and cannot sew at all, and then I really miss it.

  240. Nancy /

I sew and quilt primarily as a hobby. These days I’ve been making doll clothes for my Granddaughter. I never realized how needy dolls were. They are always wanting new outfits…LOL
Sadly, I only have a few hours a week I can spend sewing but, I may be spending more time at the sewing machine, my Granddaughter got a new doll for Christmas…she’ll be needing clothes very soon.

  241. I sew primarily for business. Before the baby, I spent about 10-12 hours a week sewing. Those hours have dramatically decreased these past several months! :)

  242. Margaret /

I love to sew AG doll clothes and make curtains, etc. I don’t sew as much as I did years ago, but
love making things for my Granddaughter’s dolls.
    I love your patterns!!

  243. Claudia Raab /

“I sew primarily as a hobby creating clothes for our granddaughter and great-niece’s American Girl look-alike dolls. On average I spend 10 hours per week. Wish we had a store like Britex Fabrics here in northern Utah. It reminds me of how what it was like to shop for great fabrics when most fabric stores were independently owned.

  244. I sew primarily for therapy and fun and spend several hours a week when the time permits. I love to sew and have been doing it for over 60 years and even majored in Apparel Design in college.

  245. Gloria /

  247. Laurin /

    Love your ideas!

  248. AnneMarie Mohr /

I absolutely LOVE Britex! I have ordered things from them in the past, and had them search their stock for other fabrics. They are always so helpful.
If I lived anywhere them – even if I visited my CA cousins – you could leave me there with snacks and I wouldn’t come out for days! (Of course, if I ever visited Great Britain, after the V&A museum, where I would linger for days, the Liberty store would be my next destination – again, leave me with snacks, and pick me up in a week! LOL)

  249. CindyT /

I love to sew and crochet. My daughter has 6 American girl dolls and I am teaching her how to make outfits for them. She is a fast learner and loves to create new things for them. We are starting to work on the girls “apartment” and looking for some creative new ideas

  250. Hi lj clothing!! I love love love love love love LOVE your clothing! Your my inspiration! I was so excited on instagram when you replied to me! That means so much! You have really inspired me to sew for my dolls and your instructions are so easy to follow! You have also inspired me to take everyday items and turn them into something new! I would have never known that a jar could make a great snow globe!! I also made a doll stocking and Santa put a candy cane in it for felicity! Thank you so much for showing me these possibilitys! Everything is possible! My dolls and I thank you so much!

Britex fabrics are wonderful. I thank Liberty Jane for their generous offer. I started sewing American Doll clothes for my granddaughters, but have now turned it into a business. I will sometimes sew 3 days straight, only coming up for air to eat and sleep. A good project is worth it!

  258. Gail W /

I have a small home business called “Sew Ideally You” and therefore spend 2-3 hours a night and most of my weekends sewing when I’m not at the fabric store. Hope everyone has a sew-rific 2014.

  274. Debbie Schrimpf /

  275. Patti Bukowski /

I crochet primarily as a hobby, but also as a way to reduce stress and provide some fun clothes and accessories for my family. On average, I usually spend about five hours a week on it. However, since I’m working on a project with a specific deadline, I am currently spending about two hours a day (more on weekends) on it.

On the other hand, my daughter sews primarily as a hobby–but her vision is to make it become a home business. On average, she spends several hours a week on it.

Have visited every time I am there.

  277. Rhonda /

I sew and quilt primarily as a hobby but hoping to start a home business. On average, I probably spend 15-20 hours per week working on various projects. I have debilitating arthritis so some weeks I don’t sew/quilt any at all but I still try to find inspiration for future projects.

  278. Linda /

I sew primary as a hobby and to make gifts for family. I sew on average maybe 6 hrs a week or less. I work a 40hrs a week and when I get home sometimes I am just to tired to sew. But you can add more hrs if you consider I go through my patterns and fabric for hrs just trying to figure out what to make next. rofl

    • Patti /

I also sew gifts for family members. Just this past Christmas I made quilted tree skirts for each of my three children. Those gifts were the ones that got the biggest joy and reaction from versus the items I purchased for them. And like you, I spend lots of down time looking through patterns and books until I come across something that intrigues me enough to start making it. Have a wonderful 2014 filled with lots of sewing.

  279. Nancy Bell /

I sew about 4 hours a week. Mostly I sew for my granddaughters American Girl collection. I some times sew outfits for myself and others and sometimes I sell the doll clothes. 284. I sew, draw, paint to satisfy the creative drive I was born with. I’m an artist but can find crative satisfaction from training my horse to checkering a gunstock. I just have to do SOMETHING to stay sane. Most times that leads to things that need to be sold.

I have sewed since the 7th grade. It just occurred to me that I’ve sewed for 40 years! I have recently discovered Liberty Jane and now this is my passion. I work full time, so the answer to your question about how many hours I sew would depend on what’s going on.

When I’m at work, I’m constantly daydreaming about fabric and patterns. Someday soon, maybe I’ll be debt free and not have any worries except fabric!

  288. I sew primarily as a hobby. I knit as a hobby and for business. I sell a lot of my hand knits. I spend about 20 hours a week knitting.

I sew as a hobby right now and honestly don’t sew as often as I’d like. I try to fit in an hour here and there on my days off from work. One of my goals for 2014 is to spend more time at my sewing machine. Although I’m not sewing as much as I’d like, I am ALWAYS thinking about it. To appease my hunger, I look everywhere I go for ideas and stop in the craft stores for little odds and ends. I have many fun things lined up! And I haven’t let go of the hope that someday it will work out that I can incorporate my love for sewing into at least an income-earning hobby.

I sew primarily as a meditative activity. On average I spend several hours a week. I went to Britex once, a long time ago, and was so overwhelmed I left without buying anything. I always regretted that but being in NH I don’t think I’ll be out there again.

I sew and crochet primarily as a hobby. I absolutely LOVE to make doll clothes, any kind of doll clothes, but the 18″ girl dolls are a great size to use fat quarters, quarter yards and quilt scraps for darling ensembles! I am blessed with boys( sons and grandsons) but the little girl in me cannot be quenched with a testosterone environment. On average, especially in the winter, I sew 20+ hours per week and I always have my crochet basket beside my chair. I sell my creations from time to time but I mostly just give them to the precious few little girls I know.

I now sew grown-up alterations and just discovered AG dolls when I bought one for my 6.5-year-old granddaughter. This past week I’ve made her 2 pair of jeans and 2 t-shirts with rhinestone emblems on the front. I’m hooked and want to do doll dressmaking full-time. This is my first week and I’ve spent about 8 hours playing and sewing clothes. Did I mention that I’m hooked!!!!!

I think I would be classified as a ‘binge’ seamstress. I may go for several weeks without sewing at all, and then spend 4 or 5 hours a day at my machine. Depending on the project and/or deadline, the hours could increase. But no matter the duration, the experience is almost always relaxing and fulfilling.

  393. I crochet about one hour a week.

I now sew as a new business since I (retired)/changed career just months ago. I LOVE spending many hrs in my ‘studio’ sewing room either . Can vary from 10-35 hrs/wk. if I am doing alterations or custom photo quilts. So before the holidays I can stay in my studio all day & late into the night. (My husband is my support for getting the business started) Your fabric tour was delightful. Thank you. My 2014 resolution is to get my creations on-line & to join partnership with Liberty Jane and their fantastic designs !

I returned to sewing as a hobby after many years of sewing only to repair clothing. I enjoy making doll clothes for my granddaughter but have only just begun and do not spend more than a few hours a week at it. Because I am unable to work I am only making things out of recycled clothing and have only bought Velcro so far.

  404. Renee /

I sew, knit and crochet a few times a week depending on where I am and what is happening with the family. I usually have something in my hands if I am watching a movie at home or travelling on the train. I have made a tentative start to selling what I make for the dolls and have great feedback from the mums and daughters I sewed for. I hope to make it a small home business that my girls can get involved with. I aim to spend an hour a day on creating something.

A good friend recently gave me her old sewing machine to make some clothes for my daughters AG Doll and I’ve been hooked ever since. I learned to sew in high school, but I had to “re-teach” myself (youtube). So far, I have only made doll clothes. I sew about 16 – 20 hours a week.

What a treat! I’m not much of a seamstress, but you have given me the tools to create some darling outfits for my granddaughters. I’ve enjoyed finding out about Liberty Jane patterns!

  413. I sew primarily as a hobby (excellent mental health..haha!) I think I sew on average about 5-6 hours per week, but time flies when you are having fun and I love every minute of it.

I think Cinnamon & Team have taken the 12 Days of Christmas to a new level through their very trendy giveaways, effort and willingness to share their knowledge but would be even better next year if those who participate could understand that we’ve ALL already won and appreciate that we even have a chance to win a bonus gift prize! LJC and Pixie Faire have consistently provided quality patterns, clothing, FREE Tutorials, Resource Lists and Design Academy to us who are sewing for our granddaughters or supplementing our income. Thank you for providing us an opportunity to become successful! To reply to some previous comments of the same number of winners as the day of the contest, in addition to what you already do, why not pick additional winners to get a discount (BuyOneGetOne or Buy 5 Get One) on patterns. (i.e. on Day 11; 1 winner gets 11 sewing items mailed PLUS 11 other winners would get Pixies Faire discount) To me having a total of 78 different winners is really asking a lot of Cinnamon who has to provide the gifts and mail them…let us be grateful for what she so generously offers!
