LJ Gives Back: 40 Zambian Seamstresses Spring Update

Hi everyone,

As you’ll recall our Christmas 2010 charitable project was to equip  40 Zambian seamstresses with the tools and training they need to open a successful garment business. We didn’t know what would happen when we asked our friends and customers to join us in the effort. Amazingly we crushed our fundraising goal and provided $4,000 to the program.

Since that time the ladies have begun training, machines have been purchased, and the project is underway. Their goal is to sell items at the local “Tourist Market” so that they can support the 475 orphans that live in their community. We’ve been there. We’ve met them. They are gracious and kind people.

It’s an honor to partner with these 40 special ladies and the children they are serving. Thanks to our special partners Esther Makandawire Director at the Ngombe Needs Care Center, and Lana Lynn Program Officer at Kids For The Kingdom.
