Day 2: Design Academy book

Hi everyone,
Welcome to Day 2 of our 12 Days Of Christmas celebration!

Today we are giving away a physical copy of our Design Academy Book. In case you’re not familiar with it, our Design Academy is a 1 month course we run several times a year – all done over the internet. It’s a blast. The participants get a digital copy of this book. Currently we don’t sell the phsyical copy…we are trying to find a publisher so that one day our little book can be a ‘real book’ in bookstores. Until then, we just sell the ebook version.
The copy we are giving away today was published as a special proof copy, so we could see what it would look like physically printed. I guess you could call this our very first physical copy of the Design Academy book. I will be more than happy to autograph this for the lucky winner, and include a special message.
It would make a fantastic Christmas present! We’ve included some additional pictures below…

My favorite designer of all time is… well, it’s you, Cinnamon. because you create things I love- doll clothes. You inspired me to sew things for my dolls when I didn’t think I could.

My favorite designer is my mom because whatever designer brand item I buy, it never makes me feel as loved and confident as the ones she made for me as a kid. I grew up wearing many of my mom’s creations. She would make us anything from fur coats, fancy dresses down to simple drawstring pants and halter dresses. She’s the reason I started sewing. She’s the reason I so gladly use her her vintage Singer sewing machine. She’s the reason I make clothes for my own children… and their, um, 18-inch “children”!
My favorite designer of all time is… It’s you, Cinnamon, Because I love how you bring actual fashion down to the doll size. I am planning on taking the design couse one of these days when I have the money to pay for it. Love your patterns
Well, I guess my favorite designer of all time is cinnamon Miles. No bn here, I’m just not a designer type of person. I’m a what’s cheap and fits(?) kind of person. But since I got into American Girls and making clothes for them, I have a designer: Cinnamon Miles of Liberty Jane! And I say this, having already purchased the e-version of the Academy. ^__^

My favorite designer is ??????. Actually I don’t know if I could even name any designers. I really don’t care. My girls on the other hand would say Cinnamon because she is the only one who makes cool clothes patterns for their dolls. (And I’m trying to learn how to sew using them.)
My favorite designer of all times must be Cinnamon because: 1) Her clothes are always beautiful, 2) Her patterns are so easy to use, 3) The patterns and clothing are always current fashions, 4)The patterns are so affordable, 5) She is concerned about us and always showcasing our shops,and so very important 6) she lets us use her patterns to sew and sell and really cares about our success!!!

My favorite designer of all time is Cinnamon Miles! i started sewing about three years ago and ust randomly came accross Lierty Jane on google. I love seeing all the new clothing lines come out. I am so inspired by Liberty Jane Clothing. It has been a blast working with the Liberty Jane Team. Thanks!
My favorite designer of all time is Eve Coleman of Keepers Dolly Duds because her historical outfits for American Girl dolls are absolutely beautiful–her finished products always look so professional.

For dolls, I like so many designers, it is hard to choose! I guess it is between Melody Valerie, Sitara’s shop {too lazy to look it up ;]} and of course, YOU! I like all of these designers because they provide such high-quality outfits.
For real, however, it would be Coco Chanel because of how simple she creates her outfits.

My favorite designer of all time is still yet to be named because I’m a brand new LJ sewer and don’t know “who’s who” yet! But I’m really looking forward to the discovery process and I bet a year from now I can insert a real name.
My favorite designer, gee that’s a hard one, it’s pretty much all the designers that sell their patterns on the Liberty Jane web site, because I know these are people who have actual dolls and care about the ease of sewing and clothing fit.

My favorite designer of all time is Cinnamon Miles, because she designs the absolutely coolest clothes for dolls. Seems like pretty much everybody else’s designs look like something my grandma would have made for me to wear when I was a kid–oh yeah, they were made with love, buuuuut, well, you know, it was hard to wear them to school! I love these dolls with a passion so I’m so happy to see all the great designs at Liberty Jane.

My favorite designer of all times was Bob Mackie because I use to sew 11 1/2″ doll clothes and loved his outfits he designed. Now that I sew for 18″ dolls my favorite designer of all times is YOU Cinnamon. Love your patterns.

My favorite designer of all time is Ralph Lauren, because of his classic and classy looks with touches of glamor. The clothes always fit perfectly and many of the pieces are very versatile as far as mixing and matching and what part of day or occasion they may be worn for.

I was blessed to have grown up around sewing. My late mother taught me to sew, my late aunt made my wedding dress, and I’ll always remember my late grand & great-grandmothers quilting in the living room. Cinnamon’s gift of designing and making patterns so easy to follow has helped motivate me to create…which is what I was born to do! Thank You Cinnamon!

My favorite designer is Libert miles because in all of her videos she has totally cool outfits (asuming she made them). Cimmamon is an awesome designer too because she is super creative, creative enough to desingn the best doll patterns ever!

I know you want to know our favorite designer but, in all honesty I need to admit that I really am not necessarily loyal to any one specific designer. I go with what I like when I see it without paying a lot of attention to the designer too much at all. I know that sounds bad but it’s the way I am.
My favourite designer is, um…., I guess no one specific. I have a very eclectic style, which of course translates to my dolls! Maybe I should pick anyone who makes simple, comfortable clothing. I do love your doll designs Cinnamon, along with Micah’s of Heritage Doll Fashions, I actually discovered her work first.

I had to laugh at this question, I was just asked to make a doll dress similar to someone’s pageant gown and so all the designers in my mind are evening gown designers. I was thinking Sherri Hill was my favorite, bigger beads, easier to get the scale down, and bigger are easier to sew on! Probably not exactly the answer you were expecting, but it popped right into my head! I was actually here looking for a pattern to maybe base this gown on.
My favorite designer of all times would have to be Cinnamon. I love how easily the designs come together and how well they fit the dolls. They are current and cool, something that makes me very popular at the craft fair.
My favorite designer is my granddaughter who has been learner to design and sew for her AG doll. Your patterns are an inspiration for her. This would be a great Christmas gift for a budding 8 year old designer.

My favorite designer of all times is myself because I have become the ultimate family seamstress. When I was 9 years old, my mother bought me my very own Singer feather weight sewing machine. This sewing machine changed my life. At that time I joined 4-H and won many ribbons at the county and state levels for my designs and sewing. This determined my career, and I became a Home Economic teacher. The next forty years, I sewed for every family member(even my dog)and for every occasion. Presently, I am designing and sewing quilts and some doll clothes as a hobby for my mother (who is 95 years old) to enjoy.

My favorite designer of all time is Armando Mafud. I love the vibrant colors in the textiles he uses, the inspiration that he draws from traditional Mexican art, and the innovation that he shows in his garments. He is an artist that really uses fabrics and fashion as his medium. Just beautiful. He really inspires me to use bold choices in my sewing projects.
My favorite designer of all time is my 8 year old daughter. She comes up with some kooky ideas but wears them proudly. She dreams of being a real fashion designer some day. This would be the best prize!

My favorite designer of all time is Cecilia Cassini because she is a kid and she isn’t afraid of trying something new. I wasn’t familiar with her work, until I watched her in a news story. I was so impressed. It wasn’t her work that shocked me, it was her age. In society we are taught that you can’t really make your dreams come true until you are an adult. Well, Cecilia changed my point of view. I am now striving for my own fashion collection, and I hope that I can make this dream come true.

I love Liberty Jane so much because I used to hate clothes but dressing my american girl dolls and designing and creating new clothes with your patterns made me want to put cute outfits together for myself! My favorite designer of all time is Ralph Lauren because all of designs are classy yet timeless.
My favorite designer of all time is a toss up of Edith Head and Walter Plunket. They both were Hollywood costume designers for some of the greatest movie stars of cinematic history.
Walter Plunket gave us the most memorable costumes from Gone With The Wind…the green curtain dress. Sewing up something out of nothing.
Edith Head dressed some of the most glamorous icons of our time. Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, Elizabeth Taylor, just to name a few.
I am truly inspired by the movies, whether a fictional character or historical person, the costumes always stand out to me. It only takes one outfit to transform an actress & it can inspire a fashion idea to aspiring designers now. Like they say, ” There is nothing new under the sun.” Or ” Everything old becomes new again.” Just take a look around, the shocking mini skirt from the 1960′s, became fresh again.
We can all get inspired by fashions of the past & make them new, young & hip for today.
Smile–can I list for two different categories? For doll clothes: It’s you, Cinnamon! Your patterns fit beautifully, your construction methods are pure brilliance, and they are very well illustrated and explained. I have many other patterns, but I keep coming back to Liberty Jane designs because they are THE BEST. Having them available in a pdf format is just icing on the cake:)
For big people: Madeleine Vionnet. She also designed clothes that were beautiful, innovative and unique. Some day I’d love to handle an actual Vionnet gown to really see how she solved challenges!

Hmm….well, if we’re talking about doll designer, then of course I would say you! I also enjoy clothes from shops from girls on YouTube…..oh! I love the outfits from MicheFinds! She is an awesome designer! Britlyn Madison, I’m not sure who the designer(s) are, but I love their accessories too.

I actually have several favorite designers (18″ of course! ;)) They are Cinnamon Miles, Britlyn Madison, Melody Valerie, Sitara, Terri’s Touch, and Suzy M Studio, to name a few. I love all of these designers because they design cute, trendy clothes for the 18″ world!
My favorite designer of all time is Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel. Based on her perception of proportion, harmony and utility, she completey changed the way women dressed in the early part of the 20th century. Times were changing. It was becoming more acceptable for women to conduct a more casual and independent lifestyle. Witness the flappers of the 1920′s! Coco Chanel took women out of their restrictive corsets and gave them simple shift dresses, comfortable trousers, belted sweaters, and entire ensembles made out of drapeable jersey knits. She gave us the “little black dress” and the iconic Chanel suit. Chanel was a “modern” women for emerging modern times. Just as Liberty Jane is a modern designer for modern American Girl dolls.

Also, the patterns are so easy to follow! I want to thank you for the hard worok that you put into this, so that we really do have more than our money’s worth.
My favorite designer of all time is Kaffe Fassett. Whether it’s a knitted garment or a chunk of fabric his designs and use of color and whimsy bring a smile to my face. I wish I had the (!) to wear his designs – or at least decorate one room of my house in vivid color. The very first AG outfits I was hired to design, based on a local designer’s little girl outfits, used his Roman Glass fabric. What fun to sew those!

My favorite designer of all time is Charles Worth, because of the amazing variety of details in his creations.
My favorite designer of all time is Alexander McQueen. Looking at his work in fashion magazines in the 90′s was what made me think fashion was interesting in the first place. Wearing his clothing was like participating in a piece of performance art.
My favorite designer of all time is probably Ralph Lauren because of his combination of casual and elegant elements. I also enjoy his mix of textures and patterns and how they work in both clothing and home furnishings. A very distinctive style. A treat for the eye!
My favorite designer of all times is Adele Margolis because like you, she loved to share her great enthusiasm and knowledge of fashion design. Reading her many books is what first inspired me to begin designing fashions myself. What a great time I have seeing my own designs come into being!
