My favorite tradition is when we put up our tree. I have four kids ages 4-8 and this was the first year that everyone was able to participate in the tree trimming. We have cookies and play Christmas music and it really gets us in the mood for the season. I love the Tank Top Pattern and just made a cotton, Christmas tank for my daughter using it.

  9. My favorite holiday tradition is filled with smells and aromas of Christmas trees, Christmas Cookies and wrapping gifts with unique tidbits leftover from Christmases past . . . .netting, tulle, cards and flower stems – I can’t wait to pass the experience on to my grandchildren.

I must have them ready for Dec. 1st. I love to see them unwrap the little surprise, they show off what they got to each other. I made a new tradition this year also, I made an advent calender for my 11 year old daughter’s American girl doll. so cute!

  12. My favorite holiday tradition is after christmas dinner and everybody is comma-tosed. Usually it ends up with everybody watching t.v. or playing just dance on the wii. :)

My favorite holiday tradition is making and giving gifts to the children in our families, in memory of Christ’s birth.

  16. My favorite Holiday Tradition is… There are a LOT of fun ones, but there is one thing I like above all the others-
We have this really special nativity scene. It’s really pretty, and very realistic.
Every year my dad waits for us all to go to bed, then he hides all the pieces to it.
Since we don’t know the day dad hides them, we will unexpectedly find them.
Mostly my dad hides them where we (are supposed) to do chores or other fun places.
The tradition has changed over the years as we all got older, but we still find them, and it’s still a ton of fun.

But during the Christmas season we have to be careful where we sit, what we wear, and where we lay our heads! Why? Almost every year, my dad hides one or more in a coat, or in a pillow etc.

Thanks so much for your amazing giveaways!

  17. Kristen /

My grandaughter who is soon to be 5 years old has been begging for an American Girl doll. Yesterday my daughter went upstairs and came down with a box, she gave it to Macie who was soooo delighted to have her mother’s doll from almost 20 years ago! She was one of the first dolls you could pick eye color and hair color. She made Macie a promise, if she can take care of “Christy” for a year then next year she can ask Santa for her own doll….so now I have out my patterns and am making a new wardrobe for an old doll. Merry Christmas to you all.

  26. Rhiannon /

My favorite Christmas tradition is putting up the Christmas tree. My whole family does it together and we all have different jobs. We listen to out favorite Christmas songs while doing it. I love getting out the ornaments because they’re like old friends I haven’t seen all year. My favorite tradition is going to the Christmas tree farm I’ve gone to my entire life. It’s still owned by the same family as they’ve passed their farm from generation to generation as well so I know all of those who are working there because I grew up seeing them each year. I’ve gone to that same tree farm now for over 50 yrs and one of my own children has continued the tradition as he still lives closeby and now goes to the very same family owned tree farm for his own tree too.

  34. Stacey ann Fipps /

baking cookies with my 4 girls to leave for Santa!!!

  35. My favorite Christmas tradition is making pj bottoms for everyone in the family. This now includes my childrens wives and my grandkids, and niece and nephews. But this year my sister-in-law teaches in a very poverty stricken school so I am also doing a pair of pjs for all 16 kids in her kindergarten class. My favorite Christmas tradition is finding the 1930′s umbrella ornament hidden on the tree. Whoever finds it gets to hide it for the next person to find! My mom gave me the ornament and now it resides with my youngest son who puts it on his tree. It’s the first thing I do when I arrive at his house for the holidays!

  49. My favorite holiday tradition is a newer one since I’ve just started to do craft shows during the holidays. After a successful craft show, we take the kids and give them each a partial amount of the money we made selling our handmade items, and they get to buy presents for themselves and one to donate to the Toys For Tots program. I love being able to teach them that Christmas is a time for sharing and caring about our family and the other families around the world :)

  50. My favorite Holiday Tradition is going to church on Christmas Eve. After all the rushing around and craziness of preparing for Christmas, this is my time to stop and focus. The church gets very crowded, so I always volunteer to go extra early to save a few seats for my family. It is absolutely amazing to sit in the quiet church waiting for the service to begin and for everyone to arrive.

  51. Cute tanks!!! I know a few girls that would love these for their dolls.

My favorite Holiday Tradition is our annual cookie decorating contest. There are several categories and everyone always walks away with a prize. The best part is the cookies we end up with…quite creative to say the least.

  53. MimiPammi /

I know I posted earlier, but I didn’t follow the rules…LOL. So I wanted to share my favorite holiday tradition…ever since we were children, my Dad who is now 82 years old, has read the Christmas story from the Bible to us. There are five of us ages 49-59 years. We treasure this tradition, and are so glad that he is still around to read it to us, our children and grandchildren…as you can imagine, quite a large group! After he finishes we sing Christmas songs, always starting with Silent Night. Our parents wanted us to know the true meaning of Christmas.

  54. Pat Armbruster /

  55. Allison taylor /

  56. Dana S. /

My favorite tradition is going to a nearby park to see the Christmas lights. It’s a drive-through type thing where all of the shelter houses are decorated by area businesses. One of the displays is always synced to music that you can only hear on the radio while you’re in the park. My girls always LOVE it and we sometimes drive through it twice!

  57. My favourite Holiday Tradition, is… christmas morning. We always wake up my parents really early, and open our stocking on their bed. Then we go downstairs and have a really tasty cranberry crumble thingy with whipped cream. And then we open presents. It’s a really magical morning :) Thanks for having this giveaway! :)

My mother would make us, 7 kids, new pj’s for Christmas but for us girls, 4 of us, she would also make our dolls matching pj’s. We got to open our pj’s Christmas Eve and Christmas morning when we would all charge to the Christmas tree we knew which baby doll was ours because she made sure that our pj’s matched our new baby doll pj’s. My grandmother, who raised me, was of German heritage, and it was a tradition passed down in her family. Now, sadly, the only part of our old tradition, remaining, is the bayberry candle.

With the kids grown and spread all over the U.S., I forgo the Xmas decorations etc…..instead I look for way to help others. The past 5 years…I’ve help stuff bears for “Operation Give a Bear”. I alway contribute to “Toys For Tots” and this year I added another way to give this time. I picked an ornament off the Holiday tree at our local grocery store with the name of an elderly person in need of some warm clothing. So she’ll have slippers, socks, sweater and other items wrapped and ready for her Christmas morning. So, I guess “giving to others” has become my Christmas tradition.

  107. My favorite holiday tradition is our open house on Christmas Eve. It started out many years ago with family and a few friends and has grown every year. We started putting out the word that everyone was to bring someone who had no local family or a place to go for Christmas. There is a gift exchange and no one leaves without a present. What better way to show the children the real meaning of Christmas.

  108. My favorite holiday tradition is baking gingerbread waffles for my family after all of the presents are opened. Afterward we enjoy playing with all of the new toys together. It’s usually well after lunchtime before we even think about changing out of our PJ!

  125. MeAndMyDollStudios /

My favorite holiday tradition is putting up the tree
Because usually it is done with family, I love to
Decorate, and when you decorate you have to
Look at each one and ask “were’s this one from?”.

  126. My favorite holiday tradition is a little game my Mom came up for me and my brother and sister when we were little. (We celebrate Hanukkah by the way)She wraps up our presents, but rips a little piece of the wrapping paper off of the present. Then she hides the presents somewhere in the house. Let’s say mine was wrapped in snowman paper and my sister’s was wrapped in snowflake paper. Then she would give me a little bit of the snowman paper, and ect. Then we search for our presents, and when we have found the one that is wrapped in the same type of paper in our hand, we can open it. It’s really fun!

  127. Irlane /

My favorite holiday tradition is being with my family and enjoying the gifts the gave to me and the gifts i gave to them!

  128. Karen & Olivia /

Our favorite holiday tradition is searching for the perfect tree. We load up the truck with firewood, dutch oven, snacks & goodies and head to the Olympics ,(& if we are lucky some snow). After driving up as far as we can go, we find a clearing, gather rocks and make a fire. Then we put in the dutch oven ingredients for the best chili ever. THEN we go ‘hunting’ for the perfect tree; not to tall, not to short, not to wide, not to narrow; but just RIGHT. After we chop it down and haul it back to our ‘camp site’ the chili is ready to enjoy. If we were fortunate enough to find snow, we have snowball fights, make snow forts and go sledding. After we clean up and drive back home, the tree goes up in the front window the next day. This is our favorite family tradition.
