  18. Good choices. I think I would like to see a young girl named Gabriela. She is from the bijous of Louisiana and is of Creole heritage. Her hair is a wavy reddish auburn and she has emerald green eyes. Her skin always has a golden tannish glow. Time frame doesn’t really matter because the Creole’s live in their own time.

  19. My New Character would be Francie, born in 1904 to immigrant parents from Germany. Francie lives in Oakland, CA with her Father, Mother, Sister and Brother. The year is 1914 and the family has just moved from San Francisco to Oakland. The family runs a thriving exotic pet business and has circus connections. Francie has a pet monkey. She lives a wildly exciting life, but her sister gives her a really hard time and they struggle with their relationship. The story would be about relationship struggles and how Francie comes to terms with her sister and learns to really love her as well as stick up for herself.
This story is really my grandmother’s story :-) Frances Hegar. She was such an inspiration, although I don’t think she and her sister ever did figure it out. My characters would. That’s for sure!

Such fun ideas everyone has! I love the Oregon Trail storyline and also have hoped for a 50′s girl. Let’s see…my girl would live in a small town on the Oregon coast with her artist parents – a sculptor and a musician. They live simply on a small income, so she can’t always have alot of the material things her schoolmates have – something she sometimes struggles with. But she finds the richness in her life through her family, friends and her experiences – beachcombing, hiking, and discovering her own creative expression. She’d have a natural beauty and her name would be Grace.

  28. My new character would be Haily and her story starts in 2002. She is a bright 10 year old in fifth grade with exceptional reading skills, so-so math skills and anti-social behavior. An only child, Haily comes from a broken home and has struggled going back and forth between parents; a gentle mother who provides stability, consistent routines and boundaries versus an in-the-moment dad who is adventurous without regard to a child’s need for structure and parenting. Like so many girls she’s on the brink of puberty without a clear sense of acceptance by her peers so she is quite often inappropriate in her interactions with her school mates making her stand out in all the wrong ways. She is taught by her Mamaw to sew clothes for her AG doll that looks just like her; “Belle” has blue eyes, long curly brown hair, and wears glasses. Haily finds comfort in her creativity and is now designing fashions to make and sell to her new friends…the same girls who just a short while ago made fun of her because she was still playing with dolls!

  29. Lora C. /

My doll would be Lottie Jane O’Dell who is named after her Great great Grandmother. LJ (which is what her family calls her) is helping her mother, Sharon, with a genalogy project. LJ learns about her families struggles in the small town of Northcott (now a ghost town in Eastern Kansas), and how her great great grandmother died while with child and was brought back to life and her great grandmother was born and lived to be 93. She is learning so much about her family history and learning that God has control over our lives and can help us learn to deal with everyday life.

She has medium length black hair with hazel eyes.

    • Cinnamon & Team /

Hi Lora! You have been selected as one of the winners of the day 5 giveaway, congrats! We will contact you by email with all the details :)

If I could create a new doll character, I would be so excited! I would create a girl who loved math; she would be a tutor to other kids who had a hard time with math and she would show them just how cool math really is! She would have wavy, caramel brown-colored hair with hot pink highlights. Her eyes would be violet. Some of her books might tell about how she thought she wasn’t any good at math, but then a friend helped her learn to love it; how she became a tutor and some of the types of kids she helps; and how she came up with her own game, to make learning math fun.

They end up meeting in secret regularly, and eventually both sets of parents allow them to interact.

  33. My new doll character would be Selah and her story would be set during colonial times. She would have red curly hair and learn to raise crops, live with native Americans and wild animals and struggle to survive the first few winters with her family. The series could include religious persecution in Europe, followed by the ship ride across the ocean and living in America. That would be fun! :-)
I also like the idea of having a doll character who is special ed — those children are so special, they deserve to be a doll of the year too! :-) That would be a huge step for AG to put out a doll like that. Maybe even have them confined to a wheelchair or with leg braces, etc. It would be a great way to educate girls on how special those children are too. :-)

She lives with her extended family on the SW Louisiana coastal plains. Her grandparents work with her to make sure she is learning her native language. They want her to know that the love she feels for them is not a betrayal to her parents; that while her relationship with them is different, it can be just as golden.
